Following widespread flight cancellations and airspace closures across the Middle East, thousands of passengers have been unable to leave the UAE as scheduled. In response, several Dubai-based holiday home firms and developers – as well as generous individual residents – have opened their vacant apartments free of charge.

Most are coordinating directly via Instagram or email rather than traditional booking platforms, and availability is subject to change as demand fluctuates.

Meanwhile, the Abu Dhabi government has agreed to cover the costs of extending hotel stays for those who have already sourced accommodation, and Dubai’s Department of Economy and Tourism has urged hotels to offer the option for guests to extend their stays at the same rates.
